I spot mowed a bunch of it last year in July right after it bloomed. It really knocked it. So far, I haven"t seen any of it this year in the area mowed. There is going to be a lot of hay this year around here. The grass is coming on strong.

My cows eat them. Late in the summer they will start on them and eat the lower leaves first.

When I was a kid. The local folks would give us kids a penny a piece for every stock with roots on it. Kids these days probably aren't that ambitious (or gullible) though.

I'll second the mowing a couple of times a year. Iron weeds usually grow very thick and close together in a patch. If you mow it a few times it is rapidly brought under control.

Iron weeds usually arent a problem around here but you do see them sometimes and its always in areas where it isnt mowed or cared for. Mow the area once or twice a year and the iron weeds wont come back after a couple of years.

I dont think any broad leaf weed killer would kill them but even if it did it would kill the rest of the broad leaf "weeds".

They make good switches for hearding cows.
