I have several PTO shields for the Farmalls. They are different lengths. 13 Inches, 6.5 Inches and 10 Inches. They have the correct bolt spacing and flanges. Anyone have info on which letter series gets which one? Want to put the correct ones on the H, the SH, and the SMTA. Looking at old manuals it looks like they all might use the long , 13 inch model.

The H and SH will use the longest, 13", shield.

That 10" shield fits a regular M or Super M. It's shorter because the distance from the axle to the drawbar hole is the same between an H and M, and the M's rear housing is larger. There's less PTO protruding from an M than an H.

The SMTA will use the shortest, 6" shield. Rather than bolt over the entire PTO, it bolts to the rear of the IPTO unit.

Since you've only got 1 13" shield, you'll have to use the 10" on one of the Hs. Better than nothing, at least.

The H and Super H use the same one a long one it will be tapered down on the end that fits tractor. The one for an SMTA is only 6 1/2 inches long.

I always throw 'em under the work bench too. Those are the most "unhandy" gizmos. :>)

I haven't had occasion to use the pto on my H, but I've been leaning toward getting a guard thinking it would be a good place to mount a tray or basket to carry my toolbox or a small cooler. Are they stout enough to carry fifteen or twenty pounds?

WM, Yes they a stout enough for me to stand on so I guess a 20 lb toolbox wouldn't be a problem.
Iv'e seen a couple go at auction. One had a toolbox witht the implement dealer decal on it that sold it new (53) and the actioneers have seen enough of them that they say 'and it has the Parker tollbox'. I do have two of the 13.5 inch shields so I guess I have all my ducks in a row.

Still too wet.

Hope to get out there tomorrow and knock it in the head. Darned grass and alfalfa is coming like crazy too.

If I don't hurry up and get it done, I'll have to plow it all over again. :>)

Why not just spray them as you are planting?

Me to. I have a whole stack of various shields on a shelf in the barn. OSHA wouldn't like it at all.

No Mike, I will keep them in case I quit using the tractors, I will put them back on. They are available new from OEM or from Brad at 1-888-824-0544. They run about 65 dollars.
