I have a Farmall 240 rowcrop tractor, with transmission problems. I have a few gears bad. Fourth is one of them. Does anyone know for sure what if any other transmission from another Farmall will interchange. Like a C, Super C, etc. Will I have to get a transmission from a salvage, from another 240 rowcrop? Thanks for any help.

I checked and gears from a C/SuperC and so on are the same as a 240 Row Crop. The 240 utility for some reason uses the same gears as a 140.

Go to your Case-IH dealer and ask the parts guys if they will print off the exploded views and part number keys for the transmissions on a C, Super C, 200, 230, 240, and 404. I know that there are differences between the early tractors and the 240, but I don't have my parts book here. I also know that there were different optional gears for each model, possibly a lower third gear?

There must have been different ones for these. I have a C that has a lower 1st and 2nd and a higher 3rd and 4th. Than my Super C has. The speed is quite different. The C will run off and leave the Super on the road.

I am not 100% sure, but I think gears from a C will work in these. New gears are available from IH. They are quite high though.I will find out in the morning if C gears will work. Send me a email and I will get all the info you need to you tomorrow.I do have lots of gears if you need some.
