I tried posting this the other day in the body of a thread. Trying again as a new thread. I"ve got the same problem on my 1086. The I & T Shop manual identifies for the PCF systems possibilities: Drop poppet misadjusted, Linkage misadjusted, Drop poppet pilot unseating/rod broken, Drop rate screw turned in too far, Actuating rod or pin binding, Draft control valve spool binding in open sosition or spring damaged. I don"t know if I have an Open Center System or the PFC. It does have a TA. The shift leaver is frozen in place. I"m told it"s best to leave it alone. I think I"ve found a serial# 26344. From what I"ve read here looks like the TA was not offered till 1979 though not sure what year mine was made. I have the fast slow response, up/down and two draft levers. I worked last weekend moving the fast slow and up down levers to the front and rear after disconecting from the cab lever, directly at the valves themselves. It"s a tight area with the cab in place. Any response will be appreciated. Chris.

Being that yours is a 78 model i would say that she is a open center system and your draft sencing linkage came off inside . No don't panic as this is a easy fix . Remove the top three point link plate ( 6 ) bolts take a trouble lite and look in on the right hand side you will see a long arm (lever) coming up from the bottom and there will be a lever or arm coming down from the top , the one on top shold be behind the one from the bottom . Now there maybe some wear and this will allow the one on top to slip past the one on the bottom and they usualy come off on the far right close to the houseing . Now the arm on top is heavy spring loaded and it is wise to use a hook or twine not your fingers if ya like them and pull the top one back and slip it over the one coming up from the bottom . Now like i said if there is wear this will come off again so what i do is weld a heavey washer on the bottom arm on the far right . Now it also helps if ya have someone or tie the draft sencing lever in the cab BACK this will take off some spring tenchion .

Thanks Tractor Vet. This is one of those "A picture is worth a thousand words." I think I know the big floor "plate" your talking about. I've printed out your response and will take it with me to the farm to see if I can figure it out. Thanks again, Chris.

I noticed you said "I think I know the big floor "plate" your talking about." The word "floor" jumps out at me. It is not the cab floor plate you want to be taking off. Take off the plate that the tractor end of you 3-point hitch top link pins to at the very rear of the tractor. This will allow you to reach inside of the rear end housing.

Yours is a 1978 by that serial number.

The TA on a 1086 was available from the beginning.

As far as the 3 pt problem I haven't a clue.

Gary

Thank you Gary, that's more than I knew. I didn't have a clue.
