will the hydraulic pump off a 400 bolt onto a 9?

The diesel/gas 600-650 pump in both Cessna and Thompson models carries the same part number as the corresponding diesel 400-450 pumps with the exception of the R suffix. I presume that means they interchange.

This also means that you can use only the diesel pump in the gas motor due to rotation. Ya, I know, you think I am nutz. See below for more details.

No. You need a pump from a W9, 600, or 650.

Yes, this is true. But seeing that the pump for the diesels is the same as the gas 9 series, you can also use the diesel pump. Both the gas and diesel 9 series have the an idler pulley that reverses rotation.

One also has to consider whether two of the four bolt holes will line up. YOu may have to elongate those holes or replace the entire gear cover with one from a Super W-9, 600, 650. Those gas tractors are kinda rare.

On another note, the distributer rotation is the same but the distributers for the gas and diesel are slightly different.
