So I started changing the oil in my H yesterday, and when I pulled the transmission / differential plug, this came out :(

I filled the transmission with diesel, drove it around a few minutes, and drained this out (The diesel was dyed red)

Do I need to flush this again, just fill with gear oil, or....?

What I like to do, before I even start the engine in the spring or after sitting, thru cold weather, back the plugs out to the last one or two threads and see if water will run out. It will come out clear and when it stops and oil starts just tighten it up and you are probably good to go. Now saying this, I just got back to the house from checking cows and when I came by the hay barn I started two tractors ( H and 674) and forgot my own advice. so I will have to wait a few days until the water and oil separate again. I have no idea how long this takes.

I just bought this tractor about a month ago...I'm just slowly working through some of the (long delayed) maintainence "issues", mostly just plain old neglect. :-(

Had some fuel issues, so I cleaned out the gas tank, now changin' all the oil; greased the loader, too.
Next up is the sickle bar - got to replace the knives (or the whole bar), some of the guards, maybe the pittman arm.

The oil you drained looks like it has had water in it. Now that you flushed it, I'd just put the new oil in the transmission.

Yeah it does look like it had water or maybe some HydTrans fluid mixed in with the gear oil. I aggre it should be flushed sufficiently now. I just did the same thing to my H.
