This has probably been asked many times before, but I can't seem to find the right thread here when I search. My dad's 1086 goes fine when the TA is in high range, but just goes into neutral when I shift to low sometimes. When clutch is depressed, it seems to go in low range and then work fine. From what I read here, it is a common problem. Does this mean the TA is bad? Also, where can I find a repair manual to diagnose and fix this? I see a manual for "chassis only" advertised here... does that include transmission? Thanks for any help!

The low side TA clutch should lock up even if there were a hydraulic problem. You said it pulls on the high side so the main clutch is not slipping. If it slips with the TA lever pulled back, the TA is bad. No adjustment will cure this problem.

I just looked and that manual is available here to the left for 29.95. Click on tractor manuals and scroll down the list until you come to it.

I don't know the answers you are looking for, but you may be able to get a manual from Binder books. Just search it on the net. IH will also have them. I am also sure that IT makes them. They are available at TSC.
