Here's a picture of the 2-ton fiber-glass cow won by a family here in the county. It was the grand prize for winning the 75th anniversary of Turkey Hill Dairy's contest in Lancaster PA.

The family decided to accept the check for $18750.00 even though the children pleaded with their parents to keep the cow.

The cow was built by a fiberglass company in WI in 2000 and is used by Turkey Hill for promoting its products. Hal

The Rib eye on a fiberglass animal would have to be tough and stringy!!!!! I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane a few times.

My knees won't take that running anymore. Our daughter still runs 10 miles and she will be 53 soon. Two of my Army buddies died in 2001 both had heart problems. One of them could run 50 miles and he probably would smoke a carton on the way. Hal

That is probably the 2nd or 3rd cow like that Turkey Hill has had. They have been showing one off for 25+ years now.

For a long time, they would put it at various Turkey Hill Minit markets for promotions.

When it isn't out on a promotional gig, it sits in their parking lot at the dairy on River Road at the top of the hill on a corner. As you come up the hill, it looks like you will run into it.

Local grocery stores use to have fiberglass bulls on the roof of their stores. My neighbor has one of them. He put it out on a small island in his pond in the front yard.

I think I would have taken the money also. Hard to do much with a cow like that other then look at it and thats not worth that much $$

Just think of all the neat toys one could buy with that much money. I know if I had it I would probably have 60 plus tractors instead of just the 30 or so I have LOL

If the children's parents invest that money wisely
and by the time the kids are ready for college their will be a nice nestegg to pay for it. If they do good in school they may be able to get a scholarship. Sports will get in faster than anything else. Hal

I know were a bull is to go with that cow. There was a restaraunt in Lexington and Winchester Ky called the Blue Grass Diner that had a black bull the size of that cow standing in front of their stores. The woman made a good decision going for the money. I can't see much benefit in keeping the cow.

I remember a club in Dallas that had about 8 of those on the roof. Then there was someone that didnt like it and sued them. I think the cows lost and got moved.

Went to Kansas City a few years ago and they had lots of fancy painted cows all over the down town area. They were painted with flags, stars, etc.

Of course Fort Worth Texas is famous for the bronze long horns but thats a cow of a differant material.

They had a lot of horses in Lexington. Those people there carry on something awful over horses. I also saw a large hog somewhere.

The one thing I forgot to mention about the Memory Cards is your pictures will stay on there forever even when you download your pictures. You need to delete them to get them off. Hal

My late dad's younger brother was a dentist in Louisville for about 40 years. He was on Bardstown RD. He was a school teacher and so was my Aunt and she taught Latin. He decided to go to dental school while she taught school. Hal

Lord no. I have never even been to the first horse race of any kind. I did work on a horse farm when I was 19 for about 3 months. Then I went to the army and have been farming and building a few houses and things since. Bet on the gray horse if one is running. They are hard to beat.

I got drafted into the Army in 1953 and my brother joined the Air Force in 1951. We both turn down deferrments. Best thing ever happened to me. I grew up and got married too in 1953.

My 2 brother-in laws were recalled to active too.
Both had served in WW2 and were married to my wife's older sister's. They stayed in until they retired. I volunteered to go Airborne after basic training and stayed at Ft Bragg with the 82nd. Hal
PS; Our daughter was born at Bragg too.

We use to say that the only thing that fell from the sky was Airbourne Rangers. I to done some time at Bragg. I do not wish to jump out of any more airplanes. I wish I had stayed and retired. One of those monthly checks would be nice. After 8 years I was ready to get back to the farm. I have a son in law that is with the 101st now he couldn't take all the PT so he didn't make it to Airbourne or Air Assault school. I think he is just lazy. He has done one tour in Iraq and is on the list to go back soon.

About 7 of my classmates made a career in the military. The smartest boy in my class joined the Army after he finshed college was making it a career, but he died in freak drowning. Never knew the details. The rest made the Air Force their career. If I had stayed I would've switched to the Air Force because I wanted to get into the jet engines. I couldn't make any rank. Nixon and Ike cut everything to the bone and they were kicking out the officers that won battlefield comissions a few monthes after the Korean War. I had found out I was going to be rehired back at my old job as a returning vet, so I got out and spent 6 years in the reserves. I'm retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground. Hal
