Super C questions

I have a couple questions on a Super C. First, the Tailight-Does the switch, on the light not the "dash", turn the red light off and on, or does it turn the clear light off and on. It never worked when we used it as a kid, and now I'm in the process of restoring the tractor and I want to get everything working properly. Does the switch somehow turn the red light off and the clear on at the same time, or can they both be on at the same time? Second, the steering mechanism-What type of oil goes in the steering mechanism where the worm gear is? I'm guessing 80-90w gear lube. Am I correct?

My Super C , which I thnk is all original, has just the clear light on the back end and it is controlled such that if the front lights are on, the rear light is on. I wonder how folks got by with this on the road at night? Just rotate it down?

the sw on lite controls red or clear. You mite need to replace the seal on the steering sector but fill with 90wt first you will soon fing out whether you need the seal. Not that hard to replace two gaskets and two seals one on the pedestal other on the input shaft. If you remove the pedestal be sure to replace it tilted back position as they steer better that is why I-H tilted them back couple degs.

On our SC, the light switch sent current to the rear light & the switch gave you the choice of red or clear. To shut off the back light with front lights on, we turned the rear switch "in between" red & clear. The MTA & 450 worked the same way.

The main light switch turn the rear light on. The switch mounted on the light controls the red or white.

I think when it was working right, the switch changed from one to the other. I don't think they both burned at the same time.

Afternoon TR, I havent put the rear light on my tractor yet so Im not sure on that. I think the switch on the light turn it on and off but thats just a guess.

The steering box gets the gear lube, some use the heavier weight lube and some guys even fill the box with grease.
