Hello
I was wondering how much difference it makes to load tires when disking and plowing. Have a 1466 pulling a 21' disk. The tires are new 20.8x 38's . The tractor seems to slip pretty badly and I can't run with the disk all the way down. Was also wondering the capacity of those tires and the perportion of calcium cloride to mix with the water.
Thanks YC

I WOULDN'T LOAD IT UP TOO MUCH, COULD HAVE REAR END TROUBLE, RATHER HAVE IT SPIN A LITTLE BIT. WE HAD TROUBLE WITH A 1566 ONE TIME PULLING A 21 FT. BREAKING HARROW,IT WAS LOADED UP WITH 6 HALF WTS. A TIRE PLUS WATER WITH DUALS.WORKING IN THE BLACK BELT OF ALABAMA IN THE PRAIRE SOIL, TUFF WORK.

Have you got it dualed up? I won't even pull my tiny stuff without the duals on.

20.8x38 tires will hold two barrels each. your tire man will know how to mix the solution. it will weight eleven pounds to the gallon.

if your going to load the back tires with calcium, i'd put new tubes in them. i have a chart around somewhere that has the tire sizes and the amounts of chloride to add to give you your weight. my w-9 has 16.9x34 rears and there is around 800 lbs of chloride +water in each if i remember right.

It will make a difference, but fluid will damage the rims after a while. I would consider weights and maybe a set of duals pulling that big a disk. Check the tire pressure, if it is above 10 or 12 lbs it will cause a lot of slippage.

Thanks for the input. I have a couple of half moon weights on each side, but thought calcium would add more weight than I could even put on in cast iron.

You might also try beet juice or wiper fluid in the tires. Its not as heavy as CACL but its also not hard on the rims if you get a leak. My self I fill my own tires since labor for it will be around $100 or more. Also filling them will make a big differacne
