I have a 1066 with a turbo; should I be able to hear the turbo spool up (whistle)? A neighbor's has the distinctive sound of the turbo whistle and I hear nothing from mine.

Your turbo in your 1066 wont wine like the one in your f 350 I'll agree with Allan in NE on that one. I have a 1066 and you usually don't hear the turbo wine.

Don't know if his has been updated. How can I tell if it is working. I was pulling a 4 bottom plow in 4 Lo no problem. This is my first 1066 so I have nothing to compare it to as far as whether the turbo is working or not. Don't seem to have any trouble with power, but I definitely do not hear the turbo. I can hear it on my Ford F350 pick up all the time.

Also do you run the muffler and the other one does not ? the muffler will keep the wine out . And a 4 bottom behind a 1066 is not realy a load . On my buddy's 1066 over here in the humps and bumps of the Buckeye in our clay and rocks i run 1st high and play with 5x16's can go on up to high third but that is just a bit to fast . Now keep in mind that this one is well tuned and tweeked with the bigger charger. Now if ya want to see if it is maken booste pressure then on the intake manifold there is small plug that you can make up a fitting and install a pressure gauges and ya only need one that will go to about 40 lbs ya should be running around 18-24 lbs of booste . On Eugene's 10 with the 3 LS charger that i put on we are running 32-34 at 3000Rpm under full load.

TS,

It isn't gonna "cry" at ya like your Powerstroke does.

When you shut the tractor down, stick your head out the door. You should hear the impeller spin down thru the muffler/exhaust.

Now if ya wanted to hear a charger Howwwweeeee lllll then ya should have heard the one on my old semi as that one made 68 lbs of booste and made a old D9's charger sound quiet.
