I just bought a handcrank for my a - no jokes please! Got it mainly so I could turn it over when doing engine work.

Anyway, it doesn"t seem to fit right. Are the pins on the end supposed to be staggered or directly across from one another?

Thanks in advance!

nspec,
They are across from each other. If you were to make one be sure that the pins are made from some good steel, like a roll pin. I use my crank every time I start my A.

I just bought one for my '39 H today on ebay. I probably won't use it much, I just like to have a crank for each tractor - don't ask why, I just do.

The crank for the A is a simple one. I made one using another one as a pattern. Basically is is a 3/4 inch diameter shaft bent in two places and then it has a 1/4 inch pin driven all the way through a hole in the end. So, yes, the pins are on opposite sides of the shaft and should be in about 3/4 inch from the end (I didn't measure, just estimated). Roger

okay thanks. that's what I've got. must have the wrong crank pulley. my pulley has no notch anyway, just the head of a bolt.

It's on an industrial a, so perhaps they were never configured for hand cranking?
