I am trying to get an F-30 to my shop to start its restoration. The width on this tractor is 108 inches. Regular lowboy trailers are 8ft wide. Does anbody have any hints on what I can do to haul it. Thanks for your help.

When I bought my F-20, I had the same problem. Built a bed extension out of some heavy planks to support the wheels. Worked out fine. Was a little interesting getting the tractor up on the trailer though.

It also wouldn't go forward on the trailer enough (fenders in the way). Added about 800# of counter weight in front of the trailer to keep the tonge heavy and it worked out well.

Tractor made a 900 mile trip that way.

Take the wheels off and drag it onto your trailer (Put two 2x10s under each bull gear housing). Use the wheels to balance the load. See my Photo "1937 F-20" under Tractor Photos.

My day job is driving a semi-truck. When you talk about a reguler low boy trl. I think of one for a semi truck. These have extendable sides that add at least a foot to each side of the trailor. It is also possible that some gooseneck and bumper hitch would have this option. You did not say how far you have to move it. If a short distance and the rear wheels turn freely you could put front on a dolly and tow behind pickup but not fastor than 10 to 15 MPH. any questions e-mail me at corn.sheller@hotmail.com Armand

I have thought about this before, and here is what I have come up with.

1) You could remove the rear wheels just before hauling it on the trailer, and set the drop boxes on a skid of some sort, then winch the tractor onto the trailer. I found the drop boxes are stout and will hold up to a little of this.

2) If it has the removable rims like the late F-20's, just remove the rims and let it ride on the cast centers.

3) You could remove the tires and run the rims over the trailer side rails, if they will line up nicely.

I have the same problem with my F-20. If I put rubber on it, it will be too wide for most trailers. I have a set of skeleton steel wheels with the lugs set on the inside. This gives me 1 inch on either side to spare.
