I installed a reproduction charge indicator [has the IH logo and part number on the face plate]. After it ran the tip of the needle rests on the face plate and when I turn off the tractor it does not go back to 0. When I tap on it will go back. Thinking I had a bad gage I installed another new one and it does the same thing.

When I disconnected the first one, the needle is now off the face plate! Seems like it is getting magnetized. I have checked the wiring and know it is wired correctly.

Anyone have suggestions?

That’s an odd one! I think IH2444 below has it –you likely got a couple from a batch of defective ammeters.

Suggest purchasing another brand of ammeter, sticking it in and seeing what happens. (Get a cheapie from your neighborhood NAPA or whatever.) If the new one works OK then you know the repro gages you bought “have issues”.

Sounds like bad gauges to me, both same thing from same place ? Maybe all that batch or design is bad.

I bought the first at an antique tractor show. The second was from OEM Tractor Parts. It looks like they were made by the same company.

I have seen these gages on other tractors and the needle touches the plate.
