How do you get into the rear main seal on this W-6, Ive heard you can pull the top of the case off under tank, and It will be in front of you , well kinda like that ,not exactly,
I didnt think you have to pull the two end's apart,
I hope not,
Im hesitating to do this, as It seem's like it will be a sizable job,

Sorry, but as far as I know, you need to pull the motor out of the chassis on a W6 to replace the rear main oil seal. You can't split a W6 between the engine and the transmission like you can an M or H. There is not enough room in the housing to pull the flywheel back to even see the seal, let alone to get the flywheel off. Therefore, I am pretty sure that the engine will have to come up and out to the front.

Chadd, it;s Kirk,
How much do you think it would cost if I had the seal done at a shop?
Mucho Buck's?
I dont have the wherewithal to do it at my house,
so I was thinking of having a person do it, and then it would be done and then I could go on to other thing's,

I have changed several of those seals and I always pulled the engine. I'm not saying it can't be done in-frame, someone may well have. It's just that for the little extra work involved to remove the engine so the bearings could be checked at the same time, I always removed the engine.
