Could somebody please tell me the Compression numbers for the C-264 engine? I checked my engine today and found all cylinders where at 130 PSI. Is this proper compression? I couldn't find it in any of my manuals. Thanks for any replies. -David Goode Coggon, IA

Well that is great news! The engine is find so I was doing this for insurance that I wont have to rebuild it. I'm still going to take the oilpan and head off to make sure their are still sleaves. (We just finished a 8N that we thought was fine but the previous owner took the sleaves out. so I want to make sure I'm running on sleaves to prevent further were on the block.) Thanks to all who helped. Just need some new paint, fix a hydraulic leak and wire the new headlights! Thanks Again, -David Goode Coggon, IA

Don't take it apart (at least noyt the head) if it is running on the block, it will do no good to pull it down now, the wear is already there and will need to be bored and new repair sleeves put in then bored again and counterbored for the sleeve rim. Let it run the way it is, and enjoy. In my opinion there is no need to do exploratory surgery on a winning race horse. JimN

Sounds real good to me, I figured normal was around 110 to 120.

As JimN says, you couldn't beat that with a stick.

Unless it is a propane head, that is nice compression for an M with a gasoline only head, and possibly domed pistons of some sort. JimN
