I took apart this simple carburator, cleaned it up a bit, but can"t get an adjustment to run smooth. Any tips appreciated on carb. overhaul vs. buy rebuilt (if they"re out there?) It runs smoothest when choke is closed 1/2 way, but rpm"s are sacrificed.

something else to check for is a vaccuum leak in the intake manifold or carb gasket. with the engine running spray some carb cleaner around all the gasket areas and listen for a change in the engine sound. if you get one, you got a leak.

The only difference between rebuilt and installing a kit, is who does the work..... .you or them. Yank it down and CLEAN it spotless...soak in carb cleaner and get all the junk out, blow out the passages and install a good kit. If I can do it, anybody can. Works wonders!

There are passages in the carb that are still plugged up. Use spray Cleaner with a tube tip to assure all passages are clean. A new carb is fine, but pricy. It is not broken, just has garbage in it. JimN
