Well got a little farther along on tearing this thing down. Decided to go ahead and pull the head without soaking the cylinders, glad I did. Looked like someone had tried to "treat" #3, stuff was old and tar like.

Removing the steering shaft from that collar was was a real pain, soaked for 2 days before I got it to budge at all.

The gas bowl was full of some nasty tar stuff also.

I will have to suspend working on this as much since my honey do list is 2 pages now ; )

The #2 cylinder. Is there a hole all the way through the side on the right?

This is bad looking...but take heart...I have seen a lot worse!

Good Luck getting the sleeves and pistons out.

You are going to have to dismount this thing so you can get to it from the bottom. Keep in mind there it a bolt inside the starter hole.

and there are a lots of "Be carefuls"----be careful not to break the crank pulley, the cam gear and the rear crank seal casting that holds the seal---it comes apart in about 3 pieces back there--I broke mine and had to find another one. You are going to need a puller to work up front. AND carefully place bolts in zip lock bags and label for future assembly ease.
