As I mentioned earlier on here I am looking at a 660 to restore and use a bit around my farm. Are they more trouble then they are worth? A few older friends who have used them say I am nuts to buy one because they were always broke down. I don't plan to work it very day but a little bit of work and maybe a tractor pullor two. I love the look and the style of a 660 but I don't want to have to fix it evey time I use it. Just looking for opions from people who know more then me. thanks

Before I was born, my father had a 660 for at least 15 years and never had any problems with it. It was supposedly cranked up to 110 horsepower and did everything asked of it without complaint. When the M with the domed and oversized M&W's couldn't pull the chopper and wagon through, the 660 had no trouble. My dad always wants to get another one, but they are hard to find around here, they don't have 2 or 3 point, which is the reason it wasn't kept in the first place, and we already have two diesels over 100 hp, and another big tractor would be a waste. Also, just in case you don't know, the T/A doesn't hold back on hills on these models.

the 460's are the only ones that have problems with the transmission being to weak for the engine
