My uncle has a JD 3-14" plow for his 574 & JD 2-14'" for his 404. I'm sure you won't have a problem with any of them.

I had no problems pulling 3 16" bottoms with a 574 gas utility in New England. You will want some front end weight if it's 3 p.h. though. The draft control on these tractors is a real plus. Keeps the plow from hogging in 12" when you want 6 to 8.

I am not casting doubt that you were able to pull a 3-16 bottom plow with your 574, but I really don't think ours could pull one with no problems. Do you have yours loaded up with fluid and wheel weights or something? Our 2500A (industrial 574) doesn't even want to pull a square baler and a full wagon of hay behind it in thick hay unless it is at WOT, and even then, our M and W6 do a much better job and are much cooler for the operator. Besides that, ours just wouldn't have the traction to pull anything, although, ours still has the industrial tires on it. . . I just thought that it was pretty funny, seeing as we pull an automatic reset 3-16 behind our 105 hp 806, and even it will get to spinning a little in the heavy blue clay we have with both rear tires full of fluid, new tires, and 2 sets of wheel weights per side!!!

chadd, no blue clay up here, it must be slick? My 574 has loaded 18.4 x26's on it, it came with 14.9's, but pulling a one row picker & gravity bin uphill, it would spin out. The 18.4's took care of that. If you need 105 hp to pull 3 bottoms, you must have the worst soil in the world. Up here they'd pull 5 bottoms with 105.

Chadd, I have a 584 that has had 3x14 since it was new and have never found a place I couldnt plow with it. I have plowed some with the 16s on it also and it seemed to handle them OK. However both 16.9x30 rears are full and both have one factory weight a piece. The front has 1000 lbs of suitcase wieghts on it. I have used it to pull my 15 foot Allis Chalmers disk harrow also It will pull them anywhere in 3rd low and in 4th in some places. I also have a 684 and it has always had the 16s on it with no problems except in late season and dry, then they are a challenge on it. Some plows are a lot easier to pull than others too.

Donald, in most places with loaded tires it will pull 3X16s. I have a 684 and it pulls my IH 420 3x16 farly well. That being said this Ky ground can be tough, so I would recommend the 3x14s.
