Because we, here, are fixing tractors, and not grammar, I believe we can well live with readable posts.

As a University professor, I have students turn in to me, papers of all differing levels of grammar, syntax, and spelling. As a reader my only task is to read the material and understand it. If the reading is clear (humns cn read thngs wel whn not corect) I can get the message very well. But there is a point at which I cannot decipher it without rereading it several times to get the meaning. It is also my job (in the university setting) to provide an academic refinement to those who need it. I spend 50% of my time on the first papers in any class doing the corrections.

My personal ability to write was in the lowest ranks of grade school efforts, I was bad. (I still make errors.

I must judge the students in my classes, I will not judge those on this forum. JimN

Tan67, I dont think any of us meant to offend. It's one thing to mispell and be in a hurry for casual chat and posts, but when making a for sale ad, it can hinder ones view of the seller. Take ebay for example. When people just have one line sentences with no pictures because they are in a hurry, not many people are willing to trust that. Next time take your time when making an ad. Its just friendly advice to help you sell that tractor!!

Tan67: I have already apologized to you once - go back and look at your post where you had the tractor for sale. (At the time, I thought you were joking around.) Again, I sincerely apologize. I made a mistake. I don't go around trying to hurt anybody's feelings. Now, I have apologized twice and they are both sincere apologies. You can choose to accept, or you can keep harping about it; it's up to you... mike

I agree. This is not the place for that. I don't think they really realized how hurtful that can be. I often hit the wrong key to. Sometimes I flat out spell the words wrong. Most folks will do that from time to time. I must admit I keep a dictonary at the computer and resort to it on a regular basis. I have forgotten words that I know I could spell years ago.

www.dictionary.com is a quick way to check words so you can leave the big book on the shelf and not waste time thumbing through pages.

Mike, I am in no hurry, I even go through my encyclopedias on a regular basis. The only thing I use the computer for is to read these forums and talk to you folks. I believe that the computer age is not helping with the basics of education. I know folks who are a whiz on computers, but are lost when you give them a pencil and paper. Maybe it is like my love of these old tractors. I am not real big on all this progress. It seems like one day folks will not be able to solve any problems without the computer. As my mother always said, I am hard headed and will continue to do things the old hard way if possible. Some of my friends and neighbors are always on me about buying a new tractor or two, but I get a big kick out of the fact that lots of them think I can't get anything done with these old relics. I have seen some of them go under due to the fact that they couldn't pay for all those new things. I still grow most of my food here at home. We can everything we grow and butcher our meat, even rendor lard and smoke our own bacon. Lots of these things are being lost to progress. When I was a kid all the relatives would get together on Thanksgiving and kill hogs, sometimes 30 or 40 it was a big deal that took about three or four days to do. Everyone in the community would take part in this. At that time my great grandpa was still alive and he ran the show. These times are nearly gone forever and I miss them. They say you shouldn't live in the past, but I thoroughly enjoyed most of it. Sorry for rambling on.

Well, since you brought it up, in your statement you misspelled "ridiculous", "misspell"(1 word), "your", "keyboard", "mispelled"(x2), and "yourself".

None of those grammar errors can be contributed to the key next door. However, typing for speed for many people leads to poor grammar. I, for one, just read right through it. That is, until you mentioned it.

Please don't get me wrong. I'm not poking fun, just rolling with your theme. third party image

WHO GIVES A POO? There is an email going around that has a whole paragraph of mispelled words in it. Not one word is spelled right yet is is completely readable because the first and last letters are in the correct position. I care less about being correct. Just make it so we can understand what you are trying to get across. DONT NEED CORRECT POLICE
