I've got a Farmall 130 that I'm in the process of putting a Woods L59 mower under. Does anyone have any pictures or some advice as far as mounting? I have to make the brackets and plates for the pulleys, so basically starting from scrach. Any help is much appreciate.

You need a piece of pipe going from final drive to final drive to mount the two idlers on. One idler need to be v-groved and the other one smooth both need to be mounted on a piece of 2x1/2 flat bar with a slot about 5 in long 5/8 wide to adjust the pulleys then two more pieces of flat bar pointing down to fasten the two arms coming off the deck/ Your bes thing would be to buy a owners set-up set of instructions for mounting to a 130 the mount from wood will run around 500 or so then you could make one yourself.

Shane: I have to agree with mark about the vehicle, yet down right disagree with him about the mower. If your going to mow with a tractor then go for the lowest utility built. Bear in mind you are not going to use that tractor for much else. Each time you remove that mower it's time getting that belt running true again. If you don't have it running true, you'll soon make mince meat of a $60. belt.

I have a Super A with a Woods mower and I like the Woods mower. Mark can talk as he likes, there is just not a better mower out when it comes to quality work. But I'll tell you just as soon as I figure out how to mount that Woods on another vehicle, my Super A goes back to what Super As do best.

Now if your still determined to put the mower on the 130, I may be able to help. I fabricated all the mounting hardware for my mower, and it worked right, from the beginning. Two things I need to know. What tractor did your Woods mower come from? Has you 130 got U drawbar or one point fast hitch?

Thanks for all the advice guys. The mower deck came off of a Super A. The guy had a Super A that was burnt in a barn fire along with the mower. But I did some trading and got the 130 (wasn"t in the fire and is in good shape) and the mower. I have the bars that run from the mower towards the back. What the guy had done, was turned the U-shaped drawbar on the Super A backwards (facing foward) and welded brackets on it for the bars and pulleys. Its pretty shotty looking actually. But with that problem, then I can"t use the drawbar. I want to keep the drawbar so that I can pull trailers still. I have had it all for almost 2 years and finally getting around to putting the mower under it. Had to order new wheels and roller (melted from the fire). Got them this past week. My lawn mower has started acting up, so figured this would be a good time to put the deck under the 130 and make the lawn mower my back up mower.

Shane: If you wish to send me and e mail, I have a decent photo shot of rear of my SA showing mower mount and belt idlers, with the U drawbar intact on back for trailering.

Stop down HUGH and we can fix you up with an A rear assy from the bell housing back then get new engine and a front pedestal from a B and thats the best set-up better yet use 245x15 tires and wheels for the rear and make a new pedestal for the front and low to the ground no cutting yard when turning short.

gene: I'm already part of the way there, putting short axles on both side of a SA, turn the crown same as for a fork lift, eliminating the torque tube in favor of an automatic transmission, plus shorten the whole vehicle. Drive the mower from crank pulley. Two spool valve hydraulic, one for steering and one to lift mower. Haven't worked out the details, but shortened wheel base wide front, using SA center tube.

I'm also torn between the automatic and putting engine 12" from transmission giving me enough room for clutch assembly. I plan an operator platform right behind final drives and above mower. Another option is a hydrostatic unit between engine and transmission.

By the time I get all done it will have been less expensive to buy a new zero turn, and sell my Woods. I see woods are building a Zero turn.

Hugh there is a shop down in MISSOURI east of KIRKSVILLE guy who runs it said there was a hydrostatic unit he could put in the A-B transmission for mowing dont know if he ever got it done. I always wanted to build anotherone by rotating the final drives to lower then go from there. Not too hard to make new short spimdles. I have found out that the one i use with the 245x15 tires is as lo to the ground as the linkage for the WOODS WILL ALOW. I used the mounting stuff from a B then made a new mount on the left side. You can even buy that bracket from WOODS as lots have taken the left diff shaft and housing out and replaced with diff shaft from an A.

If it were me.....I'd scour Ebay for the parts you need. You'd be surprised at what you can find and they are so much easier bought than fabricated. I had a Super A with a Woods belly mower on it. There's a few Rube Goldberg looking parts that routes the belts to the drive sheaves, but they seem to work well enough. I don't know how much mowing you plan on doing, and I sure don't want to be a KillJoy....but if you have never used a SuperA-100-130-140 to mow grass, you will soon learn there are a whole bunch of better mowers out there. It was a fine set up in the 1950's and early 60's, but they were soon eclipsed and a big rider will outperform them...easily. It doesn't have to be a NEW and EXPENSIVE rider either. I wouldn't trade a 70's era John Deere 120 or 140 with a big deck for any small Farmall with a Woods mower. I've used them both and that's my 2 cents worth from Greenup County!

Seems I got my a$$ ripped, fair enough. My SA was either too fast or too slow, but never 'just right'. Nothing like having to come to a grinding halt before I could shift from forward to reverse and the whole rig was about as manuevurable as a M60 tank. I had a hydrostat JD 120 several years ago with what i think was a 54" deck that would mow rings around the SA. Both are now gone and I use a Woods 6' finish mower behind my farm tractor and rely on the push mower to get what the big rig can't. The big outfit isn't handy, but it's damned fast.
