706 clutch or TA or MCV?

My 706, when the torque is ahead, seems to have two stages to the clutch. It feels normal when taking off then surges (like the TA is being disengaged) after a second. I have a bad O-ring that I need to replace on the spool that controls the TA (leaking some hydraulic fluid around the spool). Is this the problem, or is there something else that could cause this? Not a huge problem operating. Just kind of annoying. When I bought it I thought maybe it was just a wore out clutch that wasn"t engaging completely. Like the pressure plate was not engaging fully, then with movement it would seat. With the TA back it does not do this. Any help is appreciated, I can"t believe the knowledge on this forum! You guys are unbelievable!

There is reference to depressing the clutch pedal to the front of the platform in my manual for clutch adjustment. My 706 and my cousins 856 don't have a "front" to the platform. Do we need to know something? Both tractors had cabs that were removed before we got them. Was there a platform extension there that we do not have? Any measurement we can use? Thanks!

Rick hit the nail on the head . Check back thru the archives as i have posted the easy way to do a clutch adjustment on the 06-66 seires tractors the only thing that is differant between the tractors is the distance of free travel on the clutch pedal or if it has a hyd. assits clutch . Alway keep in mind that the adjustments are VARY important as they will help the T/A live longer and make for easier shifting and this leads to longer shifter life. Also make sure that the OIL lite on the gauge cluster is working as you will need that lite working for this adjustment . With age and ware going by the book does not allow for ware and ya can never realy get it wright .

The external clutch, TA and dump valve adjustments are off. Go through the whole proceedure start to finish.
