1950 Farmall H Tractor, needs Rear Rim & Repairs, 90-95% Complete Restorable.

This is what I bid on online, got it for $350.
Went and looked at it after work and oh boy, I guess I saved it from the scrap man.

Missing right front wheel, starter, oil cap, oil pan has been messed with, only 2 bolts holding it on. I think I got had, but this one will give me a chance to really tear one apart.

Now I have to figure out how to get it home : (

The flyboys on these sites call this the "barrel roll" setup.

I probably have all the parts you need to get her going, including tires and rims.

Good for you! you have set yourself up for a great education. People pay big bucks to go to school to learn things that you will learn right there for a minimal investment of 350 bucks. You will need tires anyway so you only really need the rims Being a H its like working on a model A ford Not to hard to find parts just a little heavier. I agree if the pan has only a couple bolts in it, somebody took it apart and said Oh oh. But you have a clue now where to look. Bringing it back to life should be a rewarding experience Gary

Worst case is that you part it out.

Where do you live? I see at least 5 different parts I could use it I were to buy the '51 I'm chewing on. What you can't part out you can scrap. But if you look on Ebay, and type in "Farmall H" you will see that people get down to the nitty-gritty for parts. That precleaner, if it isn't dented, could bring $75 alone!

I want the amp box and belt pulley gear! ;) Oh, and the starter button. Oh, and the drawbar support
Oh, and the brake spring assembly.
Oh, and maybe the gauges.

lol See?? There is money to be had!

I just have a hard time tearing down a tractor and selling it for parts, when it could be made to go again with time & money. I will decide what I will do once I get her home, which will be a challenge in itself. ; )

I would remove the remaning two tires and rims and pull it onto the trailer on the wheel castings..... place a piece of 2'x6' or larger to protect the trailer floor..... Chain her down real good..... take her home....slow and careful.

Understood, but not every tractor can be saved. At some point it becomes economically unfeasable to get it going again. What point that happens to you depends on your wallet.

If you get desperate I have a good rim from an M (12") with a tire that holds air (not weather checked but well worn) that will fit. I also have a good 13.6 tire that could be mounted. I'm near Manhattan Kansas.

I think that about 10 wheel weights on the back left and about 5 on the left front and you should have 'er just about balanced out!! You have the first Farmall tractorcycle!

But what happens when you have to turn AWAY from the side with the missing wheel and you don't feel like slowing down to put her in first?

You should put a skid on that side, like in the bottom of an old tail-dragger airplane...

Depends on what you call "had". any tractor that is 85-90% complete is worth 3-400.00, if nothing else you can part it and make money off of it for what you paid for it.

not a bad looking h. where is it at? if you can find or borrow a rear tire you should be able to winch it up on a car trailer. if you cant get a rear tire, i'd take the other tire off, set the rear hubs on a couple of 2X12's and then winch it up on the trailer.

Looks to be worth saving if the engine is rebuildable and it has a good trans/rearend... If nothing else you can part it out and make a few bucks - the precleaner with jar is worth fifty to a hundred bucks alone!

I see your drawbar has had an extra one welded under it... just like mine! I take it these things bent quite easily.

The flip back seat is worth another 50. Those drawbars for the H are a little on the light side. I put mine on my 350 to take to the pull and bent it right away hooked to that sled. They won't let us pull with the fast hitch drawbar.

I'd buy more just like it if my trailer had a winch. I also believe that parting one out is a good way to get paid for your time. Also when you part one out you're helping save someone else's (or another of your own). I wonder if you could tell me "Is that seat just bolted to the existing seat? How does it feel to sit in?

I'm thinking about purchasing a high-back lawnmower or tractor seat for my H to try out... days get long on that rusty pan.

I did not even get up on the seat, it was so muddy that almost all the stuff from the auction is still there waiting to get hauled out.
