Ok so now fluid was clean, filter looked clean, pilot valve and others in MCV were clean and free of clogs when I removed them. The filter screen was clear. It was not Hy-tran fluid just aw32 or other universal hydraulic fuid.

So as before I have not filled it back up, as I have no good source of Hy-tran in seattle-tacoma washington area. I have to drive likley 150-200 miles ot get it. NO issue there really just distance.

last question would be really how much should be draining out of the case when I drained it. It really was only a little under 6 gallons so how much is actually left in loader and power steering system after that?

As prior the dipstick has no markings and looks to be off something else as it lookes to be bent until length was not going into case or cut off when making another.

Does again have very little steering, good brakes, and clutch, but absolutely no loader or rear hitch lift or lower. Runs strong. Is the lack of fluid or wrong fluid a contributor to it? I have tried the prior suggestions and checked MCV valves for sticking and clogging and the guy we bought it from did not lie to me about changing the filter in it, caus' it's clean.

9 gallons in system, plus some for loader but only 6 drained out from case. Plan wil be to try filling it up with hy-tran, and if that fails move on to a new pump unless you folks have other ideas.

thanks again for all the help

Hi Tom, like JB said, may be the pump lost his prime. Under the filter, it have a pipe,it's the steering supply, loose the fitting and place a container fot the oil, start the engine and check for oil flow at the fitting. Stop engine when flow is come. When the pump is worn, it's harder to prime the system. Bernard le mécano

You can get hytran at any Case construction equiptment dealer or any of the local Case IH dealers within 50-75 miles of you. There are dealers in Lynden, Vancover and Burlington. Heck for the 200 you list you can go to my local dealer in Moses Lake.

Hi Tom, my brother does not use HyTran either. He uses the EXXON or Shell equivalent. Just make sure the replacement hydraulic oil meets all the specs of HyTran. Check the archives there has been lots of discussion of Hytran equivalents.

Re Dipstick, going from memory, the part that sticks down the tube should be about 8" long and hash marks about 1/3 the length from bottom.

I believe the brakes are working because they have a small reservoir under the dash to be used when engine is not running. Same with power steering it has inbuilt pump so can steer without engine running.

Some time ago, someone on this Forum mentioned of having to open one of the tubes out of the MCV valve to prime the hydraulic pump. This would be a mess as high pressure hydraulic fluid would fly every where. BE VERY CAREFULL with high pressure hydraulic fluid.
Maybe just rolling engine with starter would be enough to prime pump. The procedure should also be in the archives. Could have been Bernard Le Mecano?

Does your PTO work? Or is there no pressure to activate the PTO clutch? Sometimes the teeth get worn off the pressure plate spline that drives the PTO shaft and PTO shaft runs hydraulic pump and pump for T/A. Does it have a T/A and does it shift from Lo/Hi (Lo is mechanical, Hi is hydraulic clutch pack) properly?

Tom it don't have to be Hy-Tran any good hydraulic and transmission oil will work. On the bucket it will have a chart that will tell you if it is equivelent. The major thing is the brake additives needed for the wet disk brakes. I haven't bought genuine Hy-Tran since the warranty expired on my 80 model 584. That would be 81, in those days 1 year is all you got. Wal-Mart even has transmission oil that will work fine. Just read the label.
