Will pull MCV off for 3rd time in two weeks tomorrow. First blew gskt on block on back of valve.(where 2WD steering pump would mount) Gutted, cleaned, and installed MCV, torqued in sequence. TA & steering press. OK. Second time, blew inner gskt. Replaced gaskets and center plate. Cust. called today, lube light on again. Ordered gasket kit from HY-Cap(no spagetti sealer, other kits were OEM) Will ship 6 pack of DOMESTIC beer in continental US to person that tell what I"m doing wrong! NO JOKE. Thanks

Is it possible that you have the oil cooler lines crossed so the cooler return is creating back pressure from the oil cooler by-pass valve?

Checked that. The 2 hoses go to aux filter and "drop box" cooler before returning to MCV. I do wonder if a piece of blown gasket has gotten somewhere it don"t belong. Didn"t pull valve as planned today. Thanks for your reply. Tractor Vet. No I didn"t check TA & steering press at same time. TA press was 260#, steer press was spec, but don"t remeber #. Tractor originally came in with lube light on after oil warmed up. Flow\press checked steering pump at hose that feeds MCV. Need to check cooler # when I figure out how. I"d love to send somebody a six pack!

To see if it`s the cooler just make a loop with hose and by pass the cooler and filter. Have you ckecked the steering saftey valve. It may not be reliefing when you hit the end of the steering cylinders and pressure is spiking.

Hope you can find something definite, nothing worse than never realy knowing . I`ve got that going on in a 5288 thats getting closer to a fire sale with every failed attempt. Be sure and post what solved the mystery ,sooner or later someone else will run into the same thing.

Could be that there is just enough warpage to blow the gasket. You don`t have too long of a bolt some place thats bottomed out when it`s tourqued up? Just thinking!

Jumper hsg was warped pretty good. Spent couple hours with sheets of emery paper taped to glass on office door getting it trued up. That problem solved. Blowing seperator gasket might have been just a fluke. After some thought, I doubt a problem in cooler\heat exchanger circut could blow a gasket? Looks like I might have made a mountain out of a mole hill. Will carefully install tomorow and see what happens. The HY Capacity gsks. are a lot heaver also.

I`ve seen them blown before usually they are hard and brittle when they go.A 2+2 has alot more pump than the 2 wheel drives so it`s more critical to have everthing mating good. Hope you`ve got it this time Joe

Thought I"d tee in a guage w/hoes barbs and check press or blow through hoses to check flow. Maybe some gskt piece plugging heat exchanger? Even could run tractor with return hose off to watch flow. You steered me towards this, might have won the prize. Thanks. Will deffinatly post what I find when all this is through. Am currently "lapping" jumper block, as it is warped.

Ya getting all the O/Rings put in place ?? as the gskt won't hold shutt . And also if ya are not using the correct O/Rings this will happen . Also need to know what the pressure reading are and do you have the test tool to do both at one time . I run two gauges on them . And did you by chance get the wrong pressure reg. spring. Been out on 6 service calls for blowen MCV gskt's. three were jobs that the local Case I H shop did a T/A but they don't go thru the MCV as there head Mech. says that ya don't need to and his T/A jobs don't last more then three years . The other ones were by a guy that is a know it all and every time he left out two O/Rings.
