I used to have a quick attach for my skid steer. It allowed me to hook to pull type or 3 point equipment, plus I had an auxillery valve for operating implement cylinders. We quite often used this putting equipment in shed for end of season, or just plain hold, raise and lower equipment, while doing maintenence.

On day we had it hooked to a 22' disk, for holding disk and hydraulic function during changing some blades. A salesman of some description dropped in, one of those pain in the butt guys. After his welcome was worn out he asked if the skid steer would pull the disk. By the time we were done with him, I think we had him convinced that we disked quite regularly with the skid steer. I do know he discussed this with a couple of farmers on our road, later that day.

pulling power in reply to Hugh MacKay, 04-09-2007 03:34:40
Years ago my uncle had a calf tied to a big disc plow. While he was away, we got a tractor and moved the plow about 20 feet, then cleaned up all the tracks. It was a mystery for awhile as to how that calf could have possibly dragged that plow.

john: You just reminded me of a story about big plows. A sawmill near my hometown had 24" moldboard trailer breaking plow they used behind a dozer. The mill had bunk houses and one of the men staying there always parked his pickup backed up to the plow. He was also doing some heavy courting at night. One evening while Roy was cleaning up to go courting, some of his co-workers put a cable around the rear axle of his pickup and tied the other end to the plow, giving him 20' of slack cable.

Roy came out of the bunk house in a hurry jumped in the pickup and took off. It drapped him over the steering wheel, broke the center bolt on his rear spring and cut off the brake line. A welder in the near by shop heard the crash. He knew who was responcible, but he also knew Roy a forman had been using some quite heavy handed tactics with these young employees. The welder told me, everyone learned a valuable lesson. The welder was a brother in law to the owner, and decided it was best left with no one else other than those involved knowing. Of course they were never sure that was the case.

john: I liked yours quite well myself. Always good sport to convince someone of an animals ability.

I had a German Shepherd once, I expect he weighed close to 125#. He would grab racoons by back of neck and shake them until dead. I've found dogs generally just a bit shy on racoons as they can get bitten badly.

We did laugh at him one day though, a fully loaded tractor trailer on air suspension was in my yard. The dog was right height, apparently had an itchy spot. He got under trailer frame, started scratching his back, and was shaking the whole rig. The owner of the rig declared, if that dog has that able set of legs, I don't think I'll be lurking around here after dark. He might not take too kindly to strangers, lurking in the dark. I know he didn't take kindly to racoons.

I sure that's just for show, there's no way that will ever pull that plow. No where near the weight and rubber on the ground, and that rear end would'nt handle the torque if it did.

How about a close-up picture of the plow to tractor hitch? Armand

i have heard of engines like that in tractors, that is the first one i have ever really seen, i suppose that is an international truck motor right? so the bolts will match the trans case?

Nope. It's a custom-fabricated mount.

It would have been better if you would have mentioned that in my post below with the sharing on a lazy Sunday...

You really shouldn't link to other people's images like that without permission... I don't really mind, but it eats up my available bandwidth usage for the month.

Cool tractor though with the IH v8! (I think it's a 260)
