Found a decent 1942 model M with a bucket. Everything works (needs new battery) and the bucket is strong and fast. The guy is asking 2,500 but I bet I could get it for 2,000. Comments??

Needs a new cylinder for the three point, and a bracket built so it's not using the original drawbar to lift. Needs the brackets where the tilt cylinders attach to the buckets redone, way too weak to use as is. Needs some welds redone on the loader. The front bolster needs rebuilt. Leaking front seal on the engine. Put new tires on the rear before you pull a disc, and a new tube on the left front will help with the flat tire.

If you did get it for $2000, not a bad deal, needs some work but will be a good tractor. We looked at it Saturday around 1:30.

I did notice the brackets on the tilt cylinders and some of the shoddy and rusted welds on the bucket assembly. I didn't notice the front seal on the engine though.

Thanks for the input - I'll be picking it up today and getting started on fixin it up.

Eric

Keep oil in it and it will run like it is for a long time, just stay all oil covered like it is. Drop me an email, you sound like you're close to me.

i think it is worth the asking price if it as you say. If you decide against it, I would like to have it on my lot :-) Especially with the wide fronts and the loader. It would be one more piece that my wife could sell at my estate sale!!

Well guys - thanks for the input. Helped to put my mind at ease. I know a lot about engines when it comes to cars and boats but I'm new to the tractor scene. I went and gave the guy a check to hold the tractor and I'll be picking it up tomorrow. I'll follow up and let everybody know how it goes once it's back on my farm with a disc behind it.

I think it is worth it! That Farmhand F11 is a very nice loader! The M even has a widefront. :-)

Steven is right. That black stripe F11 makes it worth the chips even if the tractor has a few issues.

That F11 Farmhand loader is probably worth anywhere from $1500 to $2500+ by itself.

Better snatch it up before someone else does!

It is worth what he is asking, but if you can get him to take less than do it.

Have you driven the tractor and checked out the hydraulics, engine and clutch. Listen for noises in the drive train. Hal

Yep - starts quick and runs smooth. No smoke and no oil leaks. PTO is a little noisy but doesn't sound like is in bad shape. Hydraulics all work well and don't have any leaks. Clutch is a little grabby but works well. Seems like a solid tractor with a lot of life left in it.
