I was runnin the old M today with the hood off(workin on the ALT) and i was looking over it while she was runnig, and i saw fire in the manafoild. Its in the middle of the manafoild and its about the size of a quarter and a nickle. I wa just wondering is this a problem i have to fix right away or can i get it stirght when the time is right(will it cause any prblems)
Thanks Ryan

Does your exhaust pipe bolt on rather than a pipe screwed in? It sounds like you have a kerosene manifold instead of a gasoline manifold. I think the hole you are seeing is from a soft plug that should be installed there. Find a dish style soft plug and reinstall it in the hole.

You will most likely be ok but, if something gets in that area it can also cause a fire. If it where my tractor I would at least try to cover it some even if you had to use a beer can to make the cover. Ya I have an H that is wearing a beer can on its exhaust manifold just to help keep junk out and the noise down

It would cause me brain damage thinking about it. With a hole that large, it would seem to me to be very loud. It will probably run as long is the cracking does not progress into the intake area.
