Not being familiar with mags, how strong a spark should they put out. Having troulbe with starting my A. Noticed the one on my A looks like a normal spark from a distributor. Should the one from a Mag really shoot off?

Okay, Im NOT an IHC Mag kinda guy but am on the Wico Mags JD used sooooo ooooo oo I can still tell ya this. The strength of the starting impulse spark is CRITICAL to starting tractors (especially hand crankers) and I always tell people at about 3/16 inch it needs to be a good visible BLUE spark NOT a faint thin wimpy hard to see yellow spark if shes gonna start well. First thing I suspect n service or replace is the points and gap them or at least non abrasively clean/buff/polish off any gray oxide coating and the spring has to be good n strong so she really SNAPS NOT makes a faint dull clunk lol

Maybe those green ones need that but the RED ones will start good without having the spark jump a mile.

Should jump a 3/8 in gap. As long as it's a blue spark, U should be O.K.
