Would like to ask you all for your thoughts on what could be the problem here. Just purchased a 884 with a DU-All front loader. Issue is that the hydraulics are not functioning. Brakes, clutch and PTO all function correctly. TA works well too. Power steering only there minimally, and no rear hydralics or loader hydralics at all. Guy we bought it from had two come-a-longs holding the front loader up. He told me that it went out over time. He stated he had replaced the filter and fluid, though not Hy-tran, but it did no good. starts and runs great, but obviously I need the hydraulics and power steering to function to be able to use this machine.
Paid $3500 so have a little money to put into the repairs. Knew it was going to need some, just do not know where to start. One last thing, the fluid is clean and as I stated before the previous owner stated he changed it and filter to no avail.
Thanks for any help or thoughts you have.
Tom

michael, bernard and Louie....Thanks for all the suggestions. I will try the valve assembly and assocaited pieces to see if they are stuck. I did not clean the screen on the filter as I was not aware that there was a screen on it. But that may be because I have not torn into it yet , and was only reading as much info as I could prior to attempting anything. I hope it is not the pump but if that is all it takes to fix it I am wiling. It"s just that I do not want to go around spending money on a new pump if it was something as simple as cleaning the screen or another valve on the MCV.Thanks for the thoughts I wil set to it....Tom

HI Tom, check under the hydrolic filter for a large plug, it have the flo-divider valve in the hole, check if it move freely. If the valve is stuck, no the steering or hydolic work ok. Make sure to replace the spool and spring in the same way. Bernard le mécano Québec Canada

Tom 884, when you changed the filter, did you pull the screen out and clean it as well?Just a thought as I have seen screens plugged up. Check your filter again. I hope it is just dirty residue coming through the screen and filter again.

Just got done with the exact same problem in a 560. $1200 worth of two pumps, the main hydraulic pump and the power steering pump that piggybacks on to it, along with the gear that runs it. I did the things the seller did, new filter, new Hytran, etc. I wish that had been the problem.
