I added a little packing material and tightened up the brass nut that packs it. When I put everything back together, I put some grease in it. Are you supposed to be able to push the shaft in and out in a normal state? Before I could and now I can't seem too. I would back off a little on the nut, but I think it would leak. I noticed when I added grease to the bottom grease fitting, it sucked the shaft in. What is the top grease fitting for? Thanks for all the input.
Charles

The bottom one greeses the pump shaft the top greeses the bearing. Two pumps of greese in 60 hours of use.To much greese puts in the cooling system

Thanks, If the packing nut is to tight, what will happen? Is the shaft supposed to move front to back or be rigid?
Thanks,
Charles
