I dont remember paying attention to the color of the Starter and Generator on the H. Off the factory floor were they Red or Black?

I painted the starter on my H black,because the black paint on it was predominant.A replacement starter sold over the counter would likely to have been black,or have been painted black by a rebuilder.

Painting them black breaks up the red a little as well,in my opinion.My 2 cents worth.

A followup: was the electric start and generator standard or optional on an H? If they were added, ie, at the dealer-the starter and/or generator would be black-if from the factory then red. Most of the options were available as kits that could be added later so the colors might have been different.

I think the starter is black. Not sure on the generator.

As CNKS said they all came from factory RED.
