It seems that no gas is going from carburetor to cylinders. The carburetor is full of gas, no gas at the plugs. I removed the plugs and each plug has fire, but no gas. It seems an open pipe from carbureter to cylinders. It was running and all at once it appeared to start flooding with black smoke and quit and want crank again. Have taken the plugs out and no gas. Any help please.

I assume you mean it won't start but will turn over with the starter???? You said you have vacuum and spark. If it threw black smoke and quit it would be like you pulled the choke out-totally flooded. Float may have stuck open in the carb and now the plugs are wet fouled. Pull plugs and spin engine with starter to clear cylinders. Clean plugs with brake cleaner or equiv. then blow dry. While plugs are out get to #1 TDC and check rotor is at #1. Check float in carb. When all is back together and seems OK try to start it with NO choke--then while it is cranking over pull choke part way. You might squirt just a teeny bit of starting fluid in one cylinder to see if it wants to fire.

Pull the air intake tube off and make sure you have a good sucktion at the carb. Hold your hand over the carb and crank the engine over, it should try to suck your hand in, if it doesn't then you have a vacuum problem.

It does have vacuum. We have changed carburetors also. We put a carburetor from another cub that does run on the tractor, but this tractor still will not crank.Thanks...

If the tractor won't crank, either your battery isn't up to snuff, or...if you can't crank it by hand, it's probably hydrolocked with fuel in the cylinders.

Take the spark out and, with the coil wire removed, try to crank it by hand. I'd bet it crank that way. Then check the oil in the crankcase for gas dilution, and change that oil before trying to run that engine. And while you're doing all that, make sure the battery is fully charged. Then it should crank just fine, as long as there's no electrical problem.
