Howdy, Boys: I need to remove my H carb. I have done this many times on my super A's but the H and M have govonor linkage inside a tube. How do I disconnect this linkage AND what is the best sequence for carb removal to make it as easy/simple as possible? As always, thanks in advance. mike

Just disconnect the fuel line, the choke rod, and two bolts...then it is off. Now, that is a mouthfull and seems simple enought till you get to the rear nut or bolt. The fuel line, choke, and front bolt are a charm. The bolt in the rear is not. You really need to bend up a cheap wrench in order to get around there...

I've removed several H carbs, rebuilt them and re-installed. I've never needed any kind of special wrench. Just reach into the tool box and grab wichever box end wrench is closest. Ya just gotta use your imagination and hold your toungue just right.

Mike, the govenor linkage is not actually connected inside, just some tabs that mesh together. It should just pull apart once you take the two screws or bolts out of the end of the tube. When you put it back together you just have to make sure the linkage lines up, it won't go all the way in if they aren't. As for disassembly, just diconnect everything saving the nuts that hold it to the manifold last, that way it's held steady to remove the fuel line, linkages and air inlet tube.

It just comes off, I would take off fuel line, and choke rod, the screws on the governor tube, then the manifold bolts. Bending a wrench of modest quality to use on the bolts works for me, and saves some time. The gov link comming out is a no brainer, getting it back in requires careful alignment of the tab with a link as it is mated together. Failure here is not the best for Gov function, and can cause distress when started. JimN
