I needed live power so I traded my SMV-TA (Needed total restoration) and my sweet little H for a 300 Farmall. I hope I got a good deal. It runs great but still miss my H. I do need a grill for the 300 row crop. Do you know where I can find one? Have a great day fella.
PS: Hope I made a wise move.

Oh, heck yes. You gave that boy a real "trading lesson". I wonder how he kept from falling on the ground with glee - right in front of you???

Be careful.

That ol' "Bama Boy" is liable to come up there, grab you by the scruff of the neck and teach you some down-home southern manners Dixie style.

True, you could've/should've come away from the deal with some cash in pocket because the SMVTA is worth quite a bit in any condition, but if you're happy with what you have, what difference does it make?

One thing is I've noticed a lot of posts about ultra rare tractors like SMVTA and SMDTA lately, and it makes me wonder if someone's bouncing around under different names yanking our chains trying to stir up trouble. Hope that's not the case.

Not a good trade. In fact, you simply gave away the high crop SMTA because the H and 300 might have had equivalent value depending on their respective conditions.

You could have paid someone $5000 to fix the tractor and still put an additional $5000-$15,000 in your pocket after listing it on eBay. In other words, the high crop probably has a minumum value of $10,000 regardless of its condition. If you have no time or money, the restoration could have been done on shares with a guy who has time, money, and skills.

I hope I didn't wreck your day. Next time, ask the board BEFORE you trade.

I would think that your SMVTA would have been worth 4 grand or so, if the H was anything at all it should have been worth 1000. If you didn't get some cash or something else with the deal that 300 row crop better be super nice. Hope you didn't get took! Didn't the SMVTA have live PTO?

Yep, good plan because I spent way too much cash making my H useful with live hydraulics and PTO... wish I would have just used the mower that came with the H, scrapped the tractor and bought a newer tractor with the independent PTO and live hydraulics... Oh well, I'll get my money's worth because it should last another 60 years!

I'm with you Steve,

Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

I'm probably end up dropping another $700 or so getting my loader over on the Hydro 70. But, I'll tell ya, it will bring me peace of mind.

Just sends chills up my back starting up that big diesel to do chores and then shutting it off again before the temp has even had time to climb high enough to open the thermostat.

So you're gonna take the existing loader off the Hydro 70?

Norm, I have a good grill. I sold it on ebay to a non paying bidder, so it is still for sale. I don't have the top bonnet, but I do have the rest of it.Send an email and I will send you pics of it.

You're just like me. Don’t give a fig about “collectibles” and necessity governs all.

My trouble is, sometimes I wonder if maybe I've got too darned much "necessity" for my own good. :>)

Check all your local salvage yards; somebody is bound to have that front cap.
