I know you have always wondered and never knew the purpose of the cross bar and springs on the attached photo.

If you can correctly identify the H Part and its purpose, you win the Mechanic of the Week award.

Its 2 purposes: To drive the impeller, to hold the impeller in place. The springs put pressure on the crossbar forcing the impeller to stay in place.

That fan blade wins the worst pitted piece of metal I've seen on an H award! :)

Actually, the unit serves two purposes. The cross bar drives the pump while the springs provide a preload to the ceramic seal at the impeller.

The letter series water pumps do not use a ceramic seal. They use a packing that is adjusted using that brass looking nut under the T bar.

Being I've had a couple of those apart, it drives the water pump impeller shaft. The fan and pulley itself ride on their own bearing...

I will take a guess. Is it a temperature controlled fan? There was a reverse pitch fan offered as optional equipment for this tractor too. Hal

What you have is a water pump drive assembly.
