Did you get a 1/8" pipe for the filtered oil drain back in the crankcase on your H? I could not find the old pipe that was broke in mine, but did find the 1 1/2 inches I had cut off of a new 6" piece. So the piece that screws into the block must be around 5 1/2" long. Dave

The length is not real important. Its purpose is to get the return oil from the filter back into the pan below the oil level to cut down on foaming. any length that will accomplish that should be OK.

I have taken engines apart where the pipe was missing and there did not seem to be any problems related to the tube being gone. There is so much oil splashing around from being thrown off the crankshaft that, in comparison, the amount from the oil filter is negligible.

Thanks for looking Dave. It was suggested that I use the piece that came out of my grease gun...with the appropriate threads and size. I am looking for a piece and the measurements look good...Just as long as it gets into the pan, it ought be good. Thank you again.

The piece must be 4 1/2" long if you cut 1 1/2" from a 6" piece...

The H isn't a full flow oil system? Guess I learn something new everyday!

Neither are the M, A, B, C, W-4, 6, etc.

The full flow oil system dumps all the trash into the bearigs if you blow out the filter. On a bypass system if the filter plugs up there is no harm done.

These engines were made for reliability and a bypass system works quite well, look at how many old abused H's and M's are still operating well. When is the last time you pulled the drain plug from a car engine and had to poke a hole in the sludge to get the oil to drain, yet the engine will still run well? I've done that on lots of old Farmalls which must have gone years since the last oil change. Big bearings and slow speeds and an oil bath air filter.
