Hi again, If you want a different pump you will be much happier with a live system on the timing gears. Good Luck, Chuck

This was an improvement IH put on the Super H , 300 and 350. The hyd pump is placed in front of the engine distributor and drives from the timing gears, therefore you have hydraulics all the time and is not affected by the clutch. But first I would still suggest you determine where your problem is now with a pressure gauge. Chuck

Like everything with these older tractors it depends a lot on what you can find and what it costs. The belly pumps are not complicated, it has been a while since I have fixed one so I don't know if parts are available or you may find a good complete unit. If your pump is poor it will get worse the more you use it because the oil gets warmer and thiner. If it is poor you have nothing to lose by filling it with 90 gear oil, that will help or adding a couple of cans of STP will make adifference too.

Thats right, if you have not checked it before that could be some of the problem. IH recommended 30 wt engine oil in them originaly, but most people went to hy-tran so they could interchange implements with the newer tractors. I would also loosen the drain plug on the bottom and check for water also. Good Luck, Chuck

Hi, The first thing you should do is get a hyd. pressure gauge, Northern or others carry them. Put it on one of the plugged outlets, see if you have at least 800 lbs after it is warmed up. If not your pump is less than it should be, you may be able to fix it reasonably. If you have 800 lbs, your cylinders are to small, then decide if you want to find larger ones or a different pump. Is it a good loader, there are many loaders that work very well on an H or M. Good Luck, Chuck

Yeah, you're not going to get any more power by hooking up the other two outlets... only way to get more hydraulic "power" is to increase the size of the cylinders (diameter) or increase pressure. The good belly pumps put out a max of 850 psi, which won't lift much

Get a PTO pump, tank, and some valves and convert your loader to a hydraulic bucket while you're at it - make a good worker out of it!

The hydraulics on those old Hs and Ms were never meant for loader work. Put a PTO pump on it and you'll really notice a difference.
