F-12 Governor

I have tried 3 different governors on my F-12. Each seems to take a very long time to react, if at all. I tore one down and it needs new bearing for sure. The thrust bearing is really grooved on the bearing side which I'm assuming is wear. But here's what still stumps me even after reading the manual. How do I tell if the weights should be replaced? How do I get main shaft out to replace that bearing too?

Thanks,

Dan

To get the shaft out you have to hammer or press it out towards the outside, the side that the cover bolts onto. Than you can hammer the bearing out in the other direction, towards what would be the inside.

How long is "very long"? When I first got my 14 back, it took about 5 seconds to work its way up from idle to full throttle but I had other problems as well. When I rebuilt the governor, I had to adjust, which I think it was Paul Fox, that emailed me the procedure for doing so, and I dont recall now how I did it, but even with the other problems I had, it fixed the governor. I guess it was just sticky. The only things I replaced were the bearings and the boot.
