I'm working on a 4050 with a quad range tranny. I normally work on red ones but a friend of mine needed a favor so I'll ask a couple of questions. I want to take the oil pan off to check the rod and main bearing. Does the oil pan also hold back tranny fluid, and just how heavy is that thing. I think I'll try and set it on a floor jack so I don't drop it on my foot.

The clutch is "wet"; but there's only a SMALL amount of residual oil that remains in the housing when shut down. NO rear to drain the rear end behind the clutch housing.

Yes, Quads have oil in bellhousing, so you need to drain oil. Pan is a handfull for an ave+ man, 2 guys easy.

Sorry for the misinformation. I have always mistakenly drained a few gal of hyd\trans oil before splitting tractor.
