Leaking Remote, 826

It's time for TRY THREE on getting one of my hydraulic control valves (for the remotes) to stop leaking. It leaks out of the little snapped in endcap, where you adjust the sensitivity. I have replaced all the o-rings twice, the second time carefully examining all the hard part for any problem. I see no abnormal wear on anything, but I likely do not know what to look for. If someone has some clues onthis, I'd be grateful to hear them. I have the parts books so if you need to refer to parts, I can follow along. The remotes work perfectly, but oil just drools out that endcap... not a lot, but steady and the back of the tractor gets NASTY with oil after a a coupla days working. Many thanks, Gents!

The most common cause for leakage is the o-ring is worn out on the little pin the pushes against the ball to unseat the detent. The o-ring is not available separately. Just replace the pin with the o-ring already on it.

i dont know if I agree with you on the oring not being availabe, maybe not from the dealer, but my ace hardware here has probably 1000 different kinds of oring, racks and racks of them, from the size of my fist, to the size of a pencil lead all different thicknesses as well, all nitrile too from hillman group.

It would be interesting to see if you could get an o-ring small enough. The OD is about 1/8". If they are available that small I will figure out the actual size and try to get some.

Thinking outloud (I do not know which valve you are working on, nor what the internals look like)

Is it possible that the adjustment screw could be leaking in the spool. Teflon tape wrapped on it might mitigate the leak.

The body may have a crack in it due to physical dammage, or frozen water filling a confined space.

The orings could have a minor scratch in a groove allowing the leak. (a teflon based high performance oring might also work. Good luck, JimN
