Hi,

I'm going to look at a 340 this weekend that has a loader. It hasn't been run in 2 years, I don't know much else for details. The guy is asking $500, I'm thinking that's a pretty good deal. It would be a nice tractor to compliment my 606 Diesel. Not sure if the 340 is gas or diesel.....

Your thoughts?

Hey Hannibal, I think you should provide me w/info; location; name; #. I"ll get it and you won"t have to concern yourself about details. Get"cha another 606, they will play better together. Check engine oil dipstick; does it turn over; look for cracked block; axle housings/tractor rails - anywhere loader mounts to tractor for cracks; loader for stress cracks/welds; rims for rust through if fluid in tires; fluid in radiator; gauges/working; TA-if equipped, ask if worked when parked; any manual(s). All this you can check or just load it up and drive away as you could you it for parts for another 340. Why can"t I find a deal like this? Inform us - loader make/model; what you end up doing. Good luck.

I wouldn't take 6 times that amount for mine. Parts for these are hard to locate.

I agree with Rusty. I bought my 340 a couple years ago without a loader for significantly more than that but I knew the previous owner had gone through it and it runs like a top. If I could find a complete 340 in northern MN like that for $500 I'd buy it just for the parts.

Easily worth the asking price unless it is a total pile of junk. It will part out for more than that.
