Was wondering if it would be good idea to use sealant or make a rubber gasket to use between the saddle fuel tank and fenders when bolted together? Without anything there it would be metal on metal and it seams like a good place for dirt and water to collect. Having a pin hole leak repaired (welded) in the fuel tank and looks like rust (deteriation) from outside tank causing the hole or leak. Also thought the rubber gasket or sealant would be good for vibrations.

Thanks for any replys!

Sorry, forgot to say I"m working on an IH 464 diesel. Anyone know how it was from factory? Did they use a sealant?, or just bolt fenders to sides of the fuel tank.

we do not know what you are working on, but the rubber sounds best. JimN
