You should look at the Oil Seals behind the Bull Pinion Plate while you have it apart.Thats where mine failed, a big oily mess!

Gerry they have disc in them instead of shoes. They may only need a good cleaning. You do remove the drum to get to them and just put it back using reverse procedure. You should sand all the actuatiing balls and slots they ride in to assure proper function. Maybe even replace the springs. Sometimes you can sand the disc surface and help it, but if showing much wear I would replace those as well. Just as well fix them right while you are in there. Parts are available from IH or OEM. Here are some numbers. Marshalls Tractor Parts. 1-888-824-0544. OEM 1-800-283-2122.

Nothing should just fall out, but the brake assembly will slide off the shaft as you pull the drums. Go ahead and take it apart it is not hard at all. There is no way to learn except by diving right in on it. Just put it back together the same way it came apart. You will have to diconnect the adjustment rods from the brake pedals before taking the drums loose.
