I have two SMTAs with the 400 FH. I used three-spool valve bodies. Two levers control the cylinders and the third one is for the remotes. Both valve bodies are bolted to a bent-up plate that is secured to the tractor with the frame cover bolts.

One tractor has a 400 cover. The other has a homemade bracket.

pretty cluttered platforms. i prefer the newer or older machines' operator stations for frequent mounting and remounting for that reason. but still love these old ones.

question: on the pic of the rustier one, there are hoses attatched to all the ports on the lift cylinder. where do the bottom two goto?
judging from the pics i assume you have your side mounted cylinder (forgot its function--leveling?) hooked up too on both.

Karl,

That was a good question and I couldn't remember why the extra hoses. So I went out to look and take some pictures.

That tractor was my first large framed IH and I have put alot of homemade attachments on it. At one point I had FH boom and hydraulic gypsy head winch hanging off the back. I used it to raise and lower trash racks and stop-logs at a gov't dam. I assume it ran the boom tilt or the winch but I can't explain why the plugged fittings are facing forward.

The forward set of hoses on the three-spool valve run the small depth control cylinder.

I hope someone doesn't bust my balls for not running a PTO shield.

Wardner, I am glad I am not the only one with old rusty tractors.
