Does anyone have a picture of a farmall 300's engine with the spark plug wires attached. My dad pulled off all the spark plug wires and we he does not remember the order. We know that the firing order is 1-3-4-2 but he does not remember if 1 starts from the front or the back of the engine. Some one please help.

if it is normal, it is:
2-1
4-3 looking from the rear of the tractor.
#1 is front cylinder.
The issue is that the engine will run correctly and be in time in a number of positions if assembled differently. so the real info (If the dist has not been pulled out) is to turn the engine with #1 spark plug out, and your thumb, or a round end fat stick in the sparkplug hole, until compression pressure blows air out. Then grank further very slowly to get the piston to the vry top. (the timing marks on the front pulley will then align) now you know for sure which is #1 on the Dist cap. JimN

Lupe: 1:3:4:2 is correct, make sure you get it the right direction around the distributor. I did that wrong direction one night in a hurry, doesn't work. I always hate to call this as counter or clockwise, best just bump starter see which way your rotor is going.

On 99% of all engines #1 is the front of the engine up by the radiator. That holds true with cars trucks and tractors that have in-line engines. Theres a few engine that, that isn't true but not very many and I think all of them are made in Japan etc
