Lady at a church called me and ask it I would be interested in removing the old tractor in their church storage building. Went and looked at it and it was a 46 Cub with mowing deck. Hadn't been moved it in 6 years. Loaded it up and brought it home. Added some gas a new battery and filed points and now it is running. Mowing deck works fine.

I would think seriously about slipping them some low-to-mid three-figure bread just to even things out a little.

You will still be way ahead; I don"t keep up with the Cub market but here locally these tractors were bringing $1000-1500 for good running but unrestored examples last time I checked. Find a rich Californian, you might get close to two grand for a clean one with a good belly mower.

This is what a C or Super C in similar condition brings in our area; and the Cub will sell faster!

If you don"t have that kind of money, fix their air conditioner or leaky faucets or something. It doesn"t take much these days to do a couple of hundred worth of repairs.

Unless, of course, you don"t believe in devine retribution or karma. In which case you"re on your own (literally!).

I hope it was free because the tractor is a figment of your imagination. There is no such thing as a '46 Cub. :)

How'd you come to the determination that it was a '46? The serial number should be stamped into a tin plate on the right front of the tractor just above where the steering shaft goes into the steering box. Take the STAMPED number, not the "1800." 1800 is the RPM rating.

On the left edge of this page is a link for Serial Numbers. Look for the Cub under the International heading, or maybe the Farmall. I can't remember which and always choose the wrong one.

I dont think it is a 46 as they didn't come out until 47. That is a great bargain regardless of year.

Don, when I was a kid we had a preacher that would come to the farm and work all day just so he could drive dads old C he thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. He preached several sermons while reffering to the farm and that old tractor. He moved on to another church and I have often wondered about him.
