Should this be changed annually or what. I am getting ready to go to mother IH and get some parts.

Dad has changed his on the 1086 once per year since he bought it new. Hasn't changed the coolant but a couple of times in all those years and we have no cavitation problems at 8700 hours.

Anually or 400 hours, which ever comes first.

Michael, is it a brass trap or paper. If it is brass they can be cleaned and used for years if it is paper it should be changed on a regilar basis.

In that case I would change it at every oil change as water will severely damage the fuel system if it gets through. The reason I ask was I have a old IH that has a brass water trap and I ordered a new one several years ago not knowing this it cost nearly 60 dollars and all I had to do was clean it.

Michael is talking about the coolant filter not fuel filters. I change mine once a year and the coolant every other year.
