I just finished taking the head off my H the copper head gasket I planned on using didn't seal so took the head off and cleaned things up. My question is how much compression and or H.P. will I lose by using my stock gasket which is .070 or .075 compared to my copper which is .040 don't know if I want to put the copper on and have it not seal again. We went with the 3 9/16th pistons so we do have pretty good power. We also have a cam grind.

Stand out sleeves will not seal on a copper gasket. It must have a flat surface. Milling off the top of the sleeves is the answer. Look at the gasket you took off and you will find that is is compressed (unusable) at the rim of the sleeves. JimN

Maybe 1 or 2 hp less if that, probably wont even notice it. Use a 350 gasket if you use the stock style gasket. Chad

Probably lose 5 psi in cyl pressure. .072 crush on the stock head gasket. Does it have sleeves with a flange standout above the top of the block? Chad
